Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk IN HIM, rooted and built up IN HIM and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. (Colossians 2:6-7 ESV)
When He reveals Himself to us, and we get who He is, and if we receive Him,
It will change our behavior: “walking in Him”. It will change our way of regenerating: “digging our roots into Him”. And it will change our development: “building us up in Him.”.
This changes don’t come automatically. They are products of our small and big decisions, of our culture and habits. So they are deliberate choices of saying yes to Jesus.
- To walk in Him, means to have our behavior shifted towards becoming like Jesus in answering to situations in life. It means that we read and follow the way Jesus lived, talked, reacted.
- To be rooted in Him means to have our source of energy in Jesus. To wait on Him. To make Him our hope.
- To be built up in Him, means to strategically plan, to develop our way of developing into being more christlike.
That will lead into being more grateful, being sure and abounding in faith. Who doesn’t want to live like this?
But rather than trying hard to behave like this, we should do the following:
Receive Christ Jesus the Lord today.
May you have an encounter with Him today.
